Meet Dr. Patrick C. Obasi

Dr. Patrick C. Obasi is a diplomate of the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery (ABCS) and a Fellow of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery (FAACS).

Driven by an unquenchable passion for learning, he earned his bachelor’s degree in microbiology and biochemistry from the University of Texas at Arlington before continuing his medical education at Howard University College of Medicine. During medical school, he distinguished himself as both a leader and a scholar—receiving the American Medical Student Association’s Exemplary Leadership Award as chapter president, as well as Research Fellowship Awards from Howard University Hospital and the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. He was further honored with the Graduating Students’ Award for Courage and Perseverance and the Community Outreach Scholarship from the Academy of Family Physicians, recognizing the most outstanding student in his class.

During his general surgery residency at Graduate Hospital in Philadelphia, Dr. Obasi earned the prestigious Surgical Excellence Award—an honor reserved for the resident who achieved the highest score on the American Board of Surgery In-Training Examination and demonstrated exceptional surgical skill. He later completed a surgery residency at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. He also completed specialized training in Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy.

After completing his surgical training, Dr. Obasi returned to Texas—the state and community he loves—to build a broad and meaningful clinical career. He practiced as a general, trauma, and laparoscopic surgeon and also served as an emergency room physician. His leadership roles included chief of surgery, trauma medical director, and executive board member.

Dr. Obasi later returned to California for advanced cosmetic surgery training and currently serves as an Oral Examiner for the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery.
